Privacy Policy
This page explains what happens to your data when you use this site. The short version: we do not ask you for personal information, and the only things stored are a couple of preferences in your own browser.
What we collect directly
Nothing. There is no account system, no registration form, no newsletter and no contact database. No part of this site asks you for personal details, and there is no form anywhere that sends anything to us.
We therefore hold no names, email addresses or usage profiles of our own.
Cookies and browser storage
This site does not set first-party tracking cookies. Two kinds of data are kept in your browser's own storage, and both stay on your device:
• Your favourites list, so that the sites you star are still starred the next time you visit.
• Your language preference, so that the site does not keep redirecting you to a language you did not pick.
You can clear both at any time through your browser's "clear site data" option, and the site will simply behave like a first visit again.
Third-party advertising
This site is free to use and is supported by display advertising. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet. You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings at <a class="text-mint-600 underline" href="https://adssettings.google.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">adssettings.google.com</a>, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalised advertising at <a class="text-mint-600 underline" href="https://www.aboutads.info" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">aboutads.info</a>.
Users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are shown a consent prompt before any non-essential cookies are used, and may withdraw consent at any time.
Advertisements are served programmatically and are not selected by this site's editor. The appearance of an advertisement here is not an endorsement of the advertised product.
Analytics
Aggregate, privacy-respecting analytics may be used to understand which pages are visited and roughly how many people visit. This is used to decide which categories are worth expanding. Where analytics are used, they are configured to avoid storing full IP addresses and to avoid building cross-site profiles of individual visitors.
Third-party links
This site is a directory, so almost every click takes you somewhere else. Those sites have their own privacy policies and their own cookies, and once you are on them this policy no longer applies. Links are opened in a new tab and marked <code class="text-xs bg-cream-100 px-1 py-0.5 rounded">rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow"</code>, which also prevents the destination site from learning where you came from through the referrer header.
Data security
Because no personal data is collected, there is no database of user information to breach. The security question worth asking about a directory site is instead whether it is safe to click through to the destinations — which is why every listing is checked and third-party favicon or widget services are deliberately not loaded from this site.
Children
This site is aimed at adults who are killing time at work and is not directed at children. No personal information is knowingly collected from anyone, children included.
Changes to this policy
If advertising, analytics or the way the site works changes in a way that affects this policy, this page will be updated and its "last updated" date changed. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
