About Moyu Paradise
Moyu (摸鱼) is a Chinese word that literally means "feeling for fish" — slipping a bit of your own time out of the working day. Water-cooler talk turned into a noun. This site is a directory of the places people actually go when they do it.
What this site is
Moyu Paradise is a hand-maintained list of websites you can open in a browser tab without installing anything. It started as someone's personal bookmarks and grew into a proper directory: every entry gets its own category, its own short description, and a longer note explaining when it is worth opening.
There is no app, no account, no newsletter wall. Click a card, the site opens in a new tab, and you are done with us until next time.
How sites get on the list
Four rules, applied to every single entry:
1. It has to actually work. Every link is opened and checked; anything that returns an error, redirects to a parking page or demands an install is dropped rather than left in as a dead row.
2. It has to be usable in a browser tab. Tools that need a desktop client, a phone app or a paid plan to do anything at all are out.
3. It has to be safe enough to open. No sites that push drive-by downloads, no sites that exist only to farm ad impressions, and no adult content.
4. It has to be worth the click. "There is already a site for that" is not enough — the entry should be the one you would actually recommend to a colleague.
Who writes the reviews
Every note on this site is written by the editor, based on actually using the site. The reviews are deliberately opinionated: they say when something is the right choice, and they say when it is not — a tool with a two-file-per-day free limit gets that written down rather than quietly omitted.
This is a small independent site rather than an aggregator of other people's descriptions. If a note reads as generic filler, treat it as a mistake worth reporting.
Editorial independence
Listing a site does not cost anything and nobody can pay to be included or to move up a category. Display advertising, when present, is served programmatically and is kept visually separate from the editorial listing; an advertiser has no influence over what gets recommended.
If a commercial relationship ever affects a recommendation, it will be labelled as such on the card itself.
Corrections, removals and takedowns
Sites change hands, add paywalls or shut down without notice. Links are re-checked periodically, and anything broken, taken over or behaving badly is corrected or dropped during those passes.
If you own a site listed here and want it removed, that request overrides everything else: no reason is required, and the entry is deleted rather than hidden.
